Press Ctrl+E to quickly create a new data window using the contents of the clipboard.
-
From the File menu, choose New to open a new window.
TIP Shortcuts:
-
Click the New button
on the toolbar (or hold the Shift key while choosing New
from the menu) to skip the New Window dialog and use the previously selected
window settings. -
Click and drag a selection box on a blank area of the Sound Forge Pro workspace to create a new window using the previously selected window settings.
-
Drag a selection from a data window to an empty area of the Sound Forge Pro workspace to create a new window using the selected data.
-
-
Use the New Window dialog to specify the parameters for the new window:
-
Choose a sample rate from the Sample rate drop-down list, or type a custom value in the edit box.
-
Choose a setting from the Bit depth drop-down list to specify the number of bits that should be used to store each sample.
-
Specify the number of channels that will be used in the window in the Channels field.
-
Choose a channel configuration in the Layout drop-down menu. Depending on the number of channels, common layouts for the number of channels are offered, e.g. 5.1 Surround for 6 channels. The channels will then be named accordingly in the data window (i.e. instead of 1...6 as L(eft), R(ight), C(enter)...) and treated accordingly when multi-channel capable effect processing is used.
NOTE The first option "Discrete #<number of channels>" corresponds to the old channel configuration where the channels are simply numbered and treated all the same.
-
Maximum editing time displays the maximum time currently available on the hard drive for editing a file of the specified type.
